Legal Formalities
A Notice of Intended Marriage Form (NOIM) can be downloaded here: NIM Form.
This form must be lodged with me a minimum of one month prior to the wedding date. A deposit will be required at the time of lodgement, which will secure your booking date & time. It is imperative that you book your Celebrant as soon as you have booked your venue, as good professional celebrants are booked out as much as 10 - 12 months ahead.
If born in Australia, you will need to produce a Birth Certificate. If born overseas, a foreign passport will be acceptable. In the case of a previous marriage, you will also need to furnish documentary evidence of how the marriage terminated.
The Ceremony
Once the NOIM is lodged with me I will follow up on all your legalities to completion, and we begin work on your ceremony format. My custom-designed wedding ceremonies, reaffirmation or renewal vows, and special blessings are memorable and unique and, most importantly, reflective of your feelings. This is your wedding ceremony - it is a manifestation of your dreams - I will help you make it a reality.
If there are family members or friends who do not speak or understand English, I am happy to say a few words or deliver a blessing in another language. I have used such creative touches in Spanish, French & Italian. Language is a challenge I enjoy.
Your ceremony can be held anywhere you choose - a Reception Hall, private home, beach, garden, non-denominational chapel, or anywhere you would like to begin your lives together. I will be happy to offer suggestions for beautiful & unique wedding sites or, for a small gathering of less than 10 I’ll be happy for you to use my own home in St Ives with its peaceful valley & bush views. Sydney has some spectacular harbourside venues. Click Sydney for more information. Wherever you decide to share your vows, whether you have a small informal wedding or a large gathering with all the pomp and grandeur, I will make it "special" for you.
Fees & Charges
This is indeed an important consideration for couples. I work full-time as a dedicated marriage celebrant and am a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants (AFCC) - a national body of professional celebrants. I do not charge a set fee, as I feel different couples have different requirements. Therefore my charges will vary, however, my fee as a celebrant is reasonable and my couples always know they have received value for their money. As a guideline, I abide by the AFCC recommended fee at the time.
Amongst my equipment, I have a state-of-the-art portable PA system with lapel & hand-held cordless microphones, so you can be sure your ceremony will be heard by all your guests.
